Professor Simon Gilbody DSc FMedSci

Director of BTxLab.  An epidemiologist with training in medicine, psychiatry and cognitive behavioural therapy [CBT].  Simon is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and an NIHR Senior Investigator.  Simon remains a practicing NHS clinician and has led some of the largest ever trials of behavioural activation.

Professor Dean McMillan PhD DClinPsy

Professorial BTxLab scientist who designs effective and scalable behavioural interventions.  Dean read experimental psychology at Cambridge, before completing his PhD in population science at UCL and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester.

Professor Paul Galdas RN PhD

Professorial BTxLab scientist and internationally-recognised thought leader in men’s mental health.  Paul held senior NHS nursing positions before completing his PhD in 2006.  Paul leads the BALM study funded by MOVEMBER.

Professor David Ekers RMN PhD

Visiting Professorial BTxLab scientist and internationally-recognised thought leader & speaker on behavioural activation.  David trained as a behavioural nurse therapist at the Maudsley before completing his PhD in Health Sciences at York.  David has designed and led some of the largest ever trials of behavioural activation.

Professor Najma Siddiqi MRCP MRCPsych PhD

Professorial BTxLab lead for Global Mental Health.  Najma is one of the foremost authorities in brief scalable interventions in low and middle income countries [South Asia and South America].  Najma leads the NIHR DiaDeM global research program on the use of behavioural activation for people with long term conditions.  

Professor Lina Gega RMN PhD

Professorial BTxLab lead for Children & Young People [CYP].  Lina is a nurse leader and behavioural therapist.  She is one of the foremost authorities in brief scalable interventions for children.  She leads the largest ever trial of a school-based behavioural intervention – the ComBAT trial – that is currently recruiting across the UK. 

Della Bailey MSc

Clinical researcher: Della pioneered the application of behavioural therapy in the early days of the NHS IAPT programme.  Having supervised over 300 behaviour therapists to deliver the BTx trials programme, Della oversees the training and quality assurance [TQA] programme across the BTxLab research portfolio.

Dr Elizabeth Littlewood PhD

As Research Fellow for BTxLab, Liz has led some of the largest ever trials of behavioural therapy in the NHS.  Liz studied psychology at the University of York and holds a PhD in cognitive neuroscience.
